Our Story

Omni Tend began behind the bar of an award winning pub and brewery in Suffolk.

When I, James Pickard, took over the Green Dragon in Bungay from my father, I found the kind of record-keeping that’s familiar to many small business owners: rotas on paper, sales recorded in log books, inventory tracked in someone’s head. As a software developer with a background in ePOS and eCommerce systems, I saw an opportunity—and a necessity—to improve how we ran things.

At first, I tried spreadsheets. They worked—until they didn’t. They were slow, hard to share, and impossible to delegate. I wanted a tool that didn’t exist: something simple, integrated, and fast, where my team could manage shifts, update stock, and keep everything in sync without relying on paper or memory. So I built it.

What started as a weekend coding project became the platform we now use daily at the Green Dragon: staff manage their own shifts and holidays, inventory is tracked down to the unit, and our ePOS system responds instantly—no tiny buttons, no fiddly UI.

From that hands-on beginning, Omni Tend has grown into a product for other small businesses like ours. We’ve added a fully integrated web shop, deeper inventory analytics, and features designed for teams with varied levels of technical experience. Whether you’re a one-person shop or a growing team, you can pick up Omni Tend and start using it with minimal training—and maximum impact.

We built Omni Tend to give independent retailers the kind of joined-up systems usually reserved for bigger companies. Our goal is simple: to help UK businesses run more efficiently, more confidently, and with fewer moving parts.

And it all started with a pub, a pencil rota, and a spreadsheet that got too slow.
